Radioisotope Heating Unit (RHU)

provide constant heat, critical to the survival and operability of electronics and batteries over multiple lunar nights.
Section divider type: tilt -- position: top
PhosEnergy has taken a space qualified design and leveraged an Australian sovereign supply chain to design, build, test and manufacture RHUs to solve equipment survivability limitations in harsh lunar applications.

The RHU safely harnesses heat produced from a radioactive isotope that is housed and shielded within a qualified exotic metal casing and a complex composite aeroshell. This contains the radioactive particles yet transfers heat from the isotope to where it’s needed most. The outer aeroshell is designed to withstand the heat of re-entry and any damage from catastrophic mission failure.

PhosEnergy will give mission operators the confidence to send equipment to the dark depths of the lunar surface and beyond knowing that -250°C is no longer a limitation. Operability that increases data processed and activity, optimizing the return on invested mission capital.
